Where to Stay
St. Augustine is best visited over a couple of days, it can be done as a daytrip, but there is so much to see that it is worth your time to spend a night or two. You also get the added bonus of being able to visit the sites at a slower pace and avoid some of the crowds.

- 44 Spanish Street Inn– An Adults only B&B within walking distance of the Castillo de San Marcos.
- Holiday Inn St. Augustine Historic– Budget friendly hotel within an easy walk to the Fountain of Youth.
Things To Do
St. Augustine has a way of bringing out the history lover in all of us. When you slow down a little bit and take in the sites you are visiting, you will be transported back in time. Read and learn about how our first European permanent settlement was established and the battles that ensued. Depending on how much time you have, you may have to pick and choose what you would like to visit.
- Castillo de San Marcos- This is a must visit site in St. Augustine. It’s the oldest masonry fort in the United States and was used to protect the city. It was attacked several times, but never taken by force.
- St. George Street- This pedestrian only street is steeped in history and conveniently located in the heart of the historic district. Shops, eateries, ice cream shops and candy stores mingle with the century’s old history but be prepared for crowds as this is a popular spot.
- Lightner Museum– You will find the museum located in the former Hotel Alcazar. The hotel was commissioned by railroad magnate Henry Flagler in 1887 and The museum officially opened in 1948 by the city. Additionally, it houses an impressive collection of Victorian art and artifacts.
- Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine– The first Catholic parish in the United States with the first congregation being established in 1565. The Spanish architecture and beautiful stained-glass windows make this a church worthy of a visit while you are in St. Augustine.

St. Augustine is a beautiful, historic city that has so much to offer, because of that, I have focused on the historic district because I think it is the core of the city. Most sites and restaurants are within walking distance or easily accessible on the Old Town Trolley. In addition to the historic district, there are beautiful beaches in the area that are a great way to relax and get away from the crowds.
