There is nothing better than finding the perfect local coffee shop to start your morning. You know the kind, cozy vibe with friendly staff and amazing coffee. Vero Beach has some great options, and I have taken the guesswork out of it for you. I have tried all of the local spots and come up with your guide to the best coffee shops in Vero Beach. Let’s get sipping!
I based my choices off of a few specific things. First, the coffee has to be very good. I mean, that is the main reason for visiting a coffee shop. Second, the breakfast selection must be worthy of a visit. I particularly pay attention to the pastries. I am a sucker for a great croissant. Third, the vibe has to be cozy and welcoming. I want to sit and sip somewhere comfortable and relaxed.
Now that the criteria are established, let’s take a look at my favorite coffee shops in Vero Beach–in no particular order.
M Bakeri
A relative newcomer to Vero Beach, this vibrant coffee shop brings European flair to the Treasure Coast.
Hands down, this is the prettiest coffee shop in Vero Beach. The elevated style is reflected in the decor, coffee and pastry selections. The menu offers a twist on Mediterranean foods with a distinct nod to French pastries.
The croissants are flaky and buttery, and the fruit tarts burst with flavor with a tender crust. The menu changes up a bit with banana walnut bread and Meyers lemon loaf often being a morning offering. You can’t go wrong with any of the pastries. Choose your favorite flavor and enjoy!
I know, I focused on the pastries before the coffee in a coffee shop review. I did say I am a sucker for a great pastry. If you are visiting M Bakeri for the first time, I suggest the flat white. They do an excellent job. I have also had the drip coffee, and it is my go-to when I visit. They brew all forms of hot and iced coffees, so you are sure to find one to enjoy.
Did I mention the decor? You will feel like you are walking into a patisserie in France. It is gorgeous with plenty of seating. You won’t feel rushed as you savor your coffee and breakfast along with some good conversation. I love going here on weekend mornings with Chris.
If you are there later in the day, M Bakeri prepares wonderful salads and Mediterranean inspired wraps and sandwiches.

Coffee House 1420
A community coffee shop located in downtown Vero Beach. Customer loyalty is evident when sitting in this surprisingly large cafe. It’s not cavernous or impersonal, but there is an ample amount of seating throughout this sunlit drenched coffee shop.
The brick and stone interior right when you walk in gives a rustic, but chic feel to the space. The windows seem to draw in all of the sunlight making Coffee House 1420 a happy spot to slow down and enjoy breakfast.
True to all good coffee shops, there drip coffee is excellent. They also offer free refills if you are drinking in the cafe. This is something I can totally appreciate. There is the full offering of all hot and cold coffees. Whether you are craving cappuccino, espresso, macchiato or a chai latte, you will find it here. Tea lovers will enjoy their hot and cold selections from Teas by Tea & Chi.
Take your time to choose what you would like for breakfast. Homemade pastries, fruit bowls, yogurt bowls with granola and breakfast sandwiches are all available. I chose the monkey bread and Chris opted for a muffin, both were wonderful and we would choose them again.
Lunch is also a good choice at Coffee House 1420. If you are a late riser and miss breakfast, you will be able to try one of their Cuban inspired sandwiches, ham & brie or even a grilled cheese. Their elevated sandwiches are worth the visit.

Coco Rio
You will feel like you are stepping into a beautiful local coffee shop in Central America. Coco Rio originated in Honduras and the owners brought that feeling to Vero Beach. Dark wood, plants and bright sunlight give it an eclectic but homey feel.
The owners are longtime coffee roasters and serve up one of the best cups of coffee on the Treasure Coast. I always have the drip coffee because it is so darn good! Of course, there are many options of hot and cold coffees on Coco Rio’s menu. If you are drinking in the shop, coffee refills are $1.
The staff pastry chef bakes up delicious muffins, scones and breads each morning. On our most recent visit, we chose a banana bread with a crumble topping and a raspberry scone. Both were delicious. I can also recommend the lemon blueberry scone. So, so good! On occasion there have been homemade cookies in their bakery case. I always take a couple home. They are amazing and very reasonably priced.
The breakfast menu also includes smoothies, breakfast bowls and sandwiches. The hard part is deciding which to choose.
Lunch offerings include salads, sandwiches and wraps. They are made fresh when you order and offer a twist on the typical offerings.

A Slice of Paris
I have written about this French coffee shop before, and it is clearly a favorite of mine. You will find a large case filled with pastries made early that morning. The interior is simple. As you sit sipping your coffee, you will watch as repeat customers come in for their “usual” order or to pick up a freshly baked baguette. The owners know their customers and the conversation between them is a throwback to a time when time moved a little more slowly.
There are so many pastries to choose from all in delicious flavors. Chris always chooses something different, but I always choose the same–pain au chocolat. Their chocolate croissant is one of my absolute favorites. When Chris asked me what I wanted for my birthday breakfast, I chose A Slice of Paris for the chocolate croissant.
The coffee is very good as is the cappuccino. They offer a well-rounded selection of coffee drinks all made by the husband-and-wife owners. They are from Paris and relocated to Vero Beach. How lucky for us!
Unlike the other coffee shops, A Slice of Paris sticks to pastries only. If you are looking for something a little less sweet, savory options are always in the case and make an excellent lunch.

Chelsea’s
The only coffee shop on the island in this post. Chelsea’s has a different feel due to the vacation vibe. Beachgoers stop in to get coffee before heading out for the day. Often there will be people sipping coffee while working on their laptops. It’s a lively crowd, but not noisy and bustling.
Chelsea’s is known for their Acai bowls, healthy smoothies and other health focused options. Avocado toast and their creative breakfast sandwiches are popular. We have had guests stop by Chelsea’s each day for one of the protein smoothies.
The coffee menu is extensive and creative. The seasonal specialties are always worth checking out. This spring they have a blueberry brown sugar shaken espresso and a honey lavender latte. Check out their menu online to see what new creations they have.
A full sandwich and panini menu is available for lunch. I enjoy the turkey avocado BLT for a quick lunch. Some of the other sandwiches are a ham & brie panini, chicken Caesar wrap or a garden wrap for a vegetarian option. There are many more, but as you can see, the selection is excellent.
