In a state full of well-known cities, sometimes it’s the lesser-known places that offer the most fun. Don’t overlook the quaint beach towns that don’t necessarily show up on everyone’s social media feed. Fort Pierce, Florida is one of those cute beach towns. Here is a quick guide on how to spend a perfect Saturday in Fort Pierce.
Anytime I’m writing about a beach town along the Treasure Coast, there is always a multitude of things to do. I’m focusing on FOOD & DRINKS for this post. Let’s get started!
Grab Some Coffee
Every morning should start with a great cup of coffee! Lucky for you, there is a super cute coffee shop.It’s perfectly located in the historic district of Fort Pierce
The Old Florida Coffee Co. is located in the historic PP Cobb building in downtown Fort Pierce. Built in 1882 as a trading post, the Cobb building became a general store in 1897. When you enter the building, it’s like walking into an old-time general store.

Now that you have coffee in hand, you are off to a great start for the perfect Saturday in Fort Pierce. Keep walking through the roundabout and you will be at your next stop.
Visit the Farmers Market
Repeatedly listed as one of the BEST farmers markets along the Treasure Coast, this is your next visit. Whether you are looking for food or local crafts, you can find it here. You will enter into the craft section, but I suggest walking through to the food area first.
There are so many options for breakfast, lunch or brunch! Just look around to decide where you want to start. Chris and I love the HOT apple cider donuts. They melt in your mouth good. Last time we were there, they had a cone of 7 donuts or a box of 15. Of course, we got 15. I mean, why wouldn’t we get 15? Bonus, it pairs perfectly with the coffee.
There are healthier options if you prefer. The Acai bowls are popular and refreshing on a hot day. Just follow your nose and the lines to find what else awaits you. Freshly made French crepes, Caribbean specialties and made to order empanadas can all be found in the market.
After you are full, you will want to walk around and check out the fresh fruits, vegetables and fish. We always buy in season produce along with specialty cheeses and freshly made bread. Also, don’t look past the salsa, honey, jams and spices. The offerings are too numerous to list. So, ENJOY!

Pro Tip– Parking can be crowded on market days. Not to worry, there are several options for free parking around the downtown area. Be advised that you may have to walk a bit, but it isn’t bad.
Go to a Rooftop Bar
After eating your way through the farmers market, you need to get a drink and enjoy the view. This is another way to spend the perfect day in Fort Pierce.
Crabby’s Dockside is a casual waterfront restaurant with a great rooftop seating area. Recently, we stopped by with family who were visiting after a morning at the market. It was our first time there and everyone in our group had a great time. An ample menu of fun drinks can make it tough to choose. Not surprising, our group was up to the task.

Try a Local Brewery
Call it a mini pub crawl. Your next stop for your perfect way to spend a Saturday in Fort Pierce is at Sailfish Brewery. With a short walk from Crabby’s Dockside, you will be at this Fort Pierce original. Indoor and outdoor seating are both available.
This Florida based brewery does an excellent job integrating local ingredients into their beer. One of Chris’s all-time favorite beers is the Sailfish White Marlin. It’s a wheat beer that has a hint of Florida orange peel. Their American Pale Ale, Fishwhistle is another one of Chris’s go-to beers. Make sure to try it while you are there. It is very hard to find outside of the Sailfish brewpubs.

Have Lunch at Square Grouper
By now it’s probably into afternoon and your breakfast is probably wearing off. You will need to get your car and drive to lunch, but it’s worth it.
Square Grouper is the classic laid back beach bar. Swaying palm trees, a tiki hut and unobstructed views of the water make this the perfect place to wind down.
Keep in mind that Square Grouper does not have wait staff. You will need to go up to the bar to place your drink and food orders. You will then be given a buzzer to pick up your food order when it is ready. Chris and I like this as we don’t feel rushed, especially when we are listening to their live music.

Explore the Waterfront
After lunch, take some time to explore the waterfront that is right in front of you. Walk along the jetty, walk through the adjacent park or visit the beach that is right next door. Maybe you want to explore all 3! It’s a great way to end your afternoon and walk off a little bit of lunch.
