If breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, then you might as well have some fun with it. Admittedly, most people don’t think of breakfast as fun, especially the “non morning” people. Let’s change that! Here are 5 amazing breakfast spots in Vero Beach you will love.
Each restaurant is listed for a specific reason, but one thing they all have in common is great food. Whether you want quick and casual before running errands or a sit down and relax for the weekend, Vero Beach has it.
Best Location
Seaside Grill
Let’s start strong–location, location, location! If you want breakfast by the beach, the Seaside Grill is the perfect place. The adorable bright blue restaurant sits just behind the wooden boardwalk by the ocean. Along with gorgeous surroundings, the Seaside’s menu includes classics such as eggs benedict, quiche and pancakes as big as your plate.
We recently took our family to the Seaside Grill, and it was an enjoyable experience. Everyone loved the food and the fact they could walk along the beach and take last minute pictures afterward. An excellent choice any day of the week, but weekends call for this type of relaxing start to the day.
Best Pastry
A Slice of Paris
More like a slice of heaven! I LOVE this little place. Quietly tucked away in a strip mall, A Slice of Paris offers some of the best croissants around. Take your time scanning their case of goodies. There are all types of flaky pastries with various fruit or custard fillings. I tend to stick with the classic Pain Au Chocolate, my personal favorite here and when I’m in France. If I’m feeling fruity, I tend to go with any of the cherry fillings.
The owners are a husband-and-wife team from France where he was a pastry chef. While sitting at one of the few tables, it doesn’t take long to see A Slice of Paris has a loyal clientele. People come in throughout the morning to buy their fresh bread, grab a pastry and chat with the owners like they are old friends. Speaking of bread, yes, they bake bread each morning. You can channel your inner Francophile and pick up a fresh baguette for the day.
Best Healthy Options
Chelsea’s
Chelsea’s has a lot going for it, but their healthy options for breakfast truly stand out. Choose from a variety of their smoothie bowls. You will have options of fruit, granola, honey, monk fruit, flax seed, chia seed, you name it, you can probably add it to your bowl. Feeling more like a traditional smoothie, take your pick of one of their 14 smart smoothies.
Being completely transparent, I had their coffee and a croissant. I have made it my mission to try every croissant I come across. However, we have taken friends and family to Chelsea’s, and they have chosen the bowls and smoothies. Everyone liked their selection. In fact, one set of friends made multiple trips to Chelsea’s while they were staying with us so they could get a smoothie.
Best Menu
Baci Trattoria
Maybe most eclectic menu would be a better description. This small Italian eatery is the epitome of fun places to go for breakfast. With options like Chunky Monkey, a French toast made with grilled banana nut bread and covered with caramel sauce or the Joan Rivers, a stuffed omelet with shaved salmon, scallions and cream cheese, it’s hard to choose. Whichever you pick, you will probably want to go back to try the other fun menu options.
On Sundays Baci Trattoria switches up the menu a little bit for their brunch. Don’t worry, there are just as many awesome choices on the brunch menu as through the week. I’m still waiting to try the waffle stack with Key Lime mousse and whipped cream.
Best Overall
The Lemon Tree
You would be hard pressed to mention breakfast in Vero Beach and not have someone tell you about the Lemon Tree. It’s the perfect breakfast spot. Serving up classics such as biscuits and gravy and eggs benedict, it has the diner feel, except its located on a quaint street. Nestled between cute boutique shops, some that open early in case you are wanting to browse while waiting for your table, it has an upscale feel without being pretentious.
Personally, I love the quiche. In particular, I love the broccoli and cheddar quiche. We have taken friends and family there over the years and everyone loves it. In fact, it has been a requested repeat restaurant for some of our guests. During high season the waits can be a bit long on the weekends. Try to go midweek if possible and the waits will be very manageable.
Conclusion
Let’s not make breakfast the overlooked meal for going out to eat. As you can see, Vero Beach has some amazing breakfast spots for you to enjoy. Use this guide to make your list and try them all. It’s always good to have a goal! Let me know which restaurant is your favorite.
